The SST® is a trailer mounted attenuator used to absorb rear-end impacts during stationary and mobile operations. The system utilizes anti-rotational dampeners to minimize horizontal movement during impacts and requires a minimum support vehicle weight of 9,220 lbs. (4,500 kg). The durable steel frame and crushable aluminum cartridges absorb vehicles traveling up to 100km/hr making it NCHRP Report 350 Test Level 3 compliant.
