Traffic Control Technician (Highway Division)

Seasonal Full Time – Days, Evenings, Nights, weekends and possible statutory holidays

It requires a unique individual to be part of a highway crew. Any position within the highway division is critical to the safety of not only all road crew members working on a job site but also the motorists using the highway as well. We recognize and understand that working in the elements, often under less than ideal conditions is trying and not for everyone and it is for this reason that this job posting will speak only to that special individual, the one that we are searching for.

What you will be responsible for

Set up and tear down of traffic control materials, drive an arrow board truck to assist with lane closures and sign installation, review traffic control/barrier plans to ensure that customer needs are met, complete all required and mandatory paperwork for each job, abide by any and all Book 7 requirements and guidelines, provide support and undertakes special projects and perform other duties as assigned in accordance with organizational and customer needs.

What we are looking for and hope you have

If you are a person who not only seeks out but also thrives in a fast-paced work environment, if you are able to perform physically demanding tasks, including manual labour in any type of environmental condition (heavy lifting often required – approximately 60 lbs), if you have the ability to communicate effectively and clearly if you are able to provide solutions to challenges that will inevitably arise, if you have a positive attitude, are a productive team member, have an appetite to learn and understands that these positions are not the typical 9 to 5 (flexibility is a must), have your own means of transportation to and from work and finally, if you have a valid Ontario G Class driver’s license (or equivalent), a squeaky clean driving record, then we believe that you are that individual we are searching for.
